Business intelligence (BI) is the ability for an organization to collect, maintain, and organize knowledge. This produces large amounts of information that can help develop new opportunities. Identifying these opportunities, and implementing an effective strategy, can provide a competitive market advantage and long-term stability
The Challenge
As a result of planed growth strategies through acquisition, our client required a scalable integrated enterprise solution in order to profitably expand products, services, and areas of operations across 28 locations and 10 states providing petroleum product distribution services, transportation logistics, emergency response services to trucking, manufacturing, construction, shipping, utility, and government services industries.
How We Helped
IntellPartners competently partnered with the executive teams to “roadmap” implementation strategies necessary to facilitate operational efficiencies and driving business growth. The initial approach included exploring current and future state technology and process solutions and developing an understanding of current operational complexities across geographical regions. This analysis provided perspective on observed opportunities, process synergies, and defined economies of scale.
Current and future state analysis workshops with subject matter experts led IntellPartners to propose a phased approach that included the implementation of standard core financials systems, sales support applications, and an interface platform strategy necessary to capture field service operations costs and revenue metrics. Additional considerations included minimizing on-going organizational impact to revenue, management, employee retention, identifying early adopters, customers, product alignments, communications, and change management strategies.
Solution
Solution components delivered as part of this project were incrementally and carefully vetted with our client’s IT services team and the CIO. The final solution delivered consisted of the following:
- Custom repository data stage warehouse necessary to capture field transactions and information
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM application supporting data management, business workflows, and sales and service operations
- Microsoft Dynamics GP financial application supporting core financial services and processes
- Custom business intelligence data warehouse platform deployed using Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services technologies
- Real time and batched integrations across all business applications
- Microsoft Business Intelligence and information portal solutions necessary to communicate operational and key performance indicators (KPIs) to decision makers
